Short-acting insulin (soluble human insulin)
These are clear solutions containing an insulin identical to that found in the body. Like rapid-acting insulins they are also intended to be given before meals but the timing of this injection will differ from rapid-acting insulin. An injection should be followed by a meal or snack containing carbohydrates within 30 minutes.

Peak: 1-3 hours
Duration: 8 hours
